2015 Reading Challenge Update: 13-16

This winter weather breeds good reading, doesn't it? Nothing like curling up with a good book and a hot cup of hot cocoa when it's minus 25 degrees outside, right? Well, I was distracted briefly, but I am back into a reading groove, so here is my update:

Book 13: A Book Based Entirely On Its Cover: Geek Girl by Holly Smale
It probably isn't the most striking cover (see the cover of Red Queen or Since You've Been Gone, or virtually any other book), but it does have Geek Girl written write across it and I have to admit it: I AM A GEEK. I am ok with that. This book was adorable. It was a very quick, light teen read that all girls probably wish would happen at some point (who doesn't dream of a boyfriend like Lion Boy? I still do.) Check it out. More importantly... it's not a standalone...

Book 14: A Book Set In A Foreign Country: Geek Girl: Model Misfit by Holly Smale
You guessed it! Lion Boy is gone... or is he? Did anything change after she returned to school a famous model? Is she still a world class geek? Did you know that a Winnie the Pooh jumper in England is actually a Winnie the Pooh sweater? Yes, read outside your world and it becomes so much bigger! Put it on your TBR list because it isn't out yet!

Book 15: A Book That Was Originally Written In A Different Language: The Son by Jo Nesbo
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jo Nesbo.  This one actually wasn't quite as predictable as most mystery/thrillers are for me, but probably because I just wanted so much to believe  the best in people (regardless how much they look guilty.)  I'm not going to spoil the fun with this one- just check it out!

Book 16: A Book With More Than 500 Page: The Diviners by Libba Bray
I'm jake with this book. Are you on the trolley? This book is "Pos-i-tute-ly" worth every minute of reading every one of the 578 pages. The setting is beautifully reflected with the  appropriate "flapper" language. The prohibition details are vivid and the deaths are just the right side of graphic. Evie becomes more than a flighty flapper sent away from Ohio to NY...she becomes someone you truly care for by the end of the book. I can't wait for book two! I hope to see what connection there is between Sam, Will and Jericho... check it out!
